How many people can fish?

Up to 4 anglers. The boat is always private: it's just your group, the captain and the mate.

What time do trips leave?

Both trips depart at 7:00 AM from Los Sueños Marina in Playa Herradura. The half day is back around noon and the full day around 4:00 PM.

What's included?

Is transportation included?

No. You meet the boat at Los Sueños Marina, about 15 minutes north of Jacó.

Do I need experience?

No. Several of our reviewers caught their first sailfish aboard the Predator, and the crew guides you through every step.

Does the crew speak English?

Yes. Our crew is bilingual in English and Spanish.

What's the difference between the half day and the full day?

The half day is 5 hours, from 7:00 AM to noon. The full day is 9 hours, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with more time to run offshore for sailfish, marlin, mahi-mahi and tuna. Both can be inshore or offshore, depending on what you want to catch.

How do I check availability?

Send us your date and group size on WhatsApp or through the booking form. We'll reply to confirm availability and the next steps before you pay anything.

What can we catch?

Offshore: sailfish, blue marlin, mahi-mahi, yellowfin tuna and wahoo. Inshore: roosterfish, Spanish mackerel, jacks and snapper. Bottom fishing: snapper, cabrilla (grouper), tilefish and other reef fish. What's biting depends on the season and the day.

What kind of boat is the Predator?

A 28-ft Shamrock Express from 1991, fully restored and repainted in 2025, with a 330 HP Cummins 6BTA 5.9 diesel engine. She cruises at 20 knots and tops out at 26. She's rigged for inshore and offshore fishing, with GPS, a fishfinder, outriggers and a live bait well.

Is lunch included?

Yes, on the full day lunch is served on board. Every trip, half or full day, also includes beer, water and soft drinks, snacks, fresh fruit and chicken or ham sandwiches.

Where is Los Sueños Marina?

In Playa Herradura, on Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast, about 15 minutes north of Jacó.

How do I book and what is the deposit?

Send us your date and group size. Once we confirm availability, a 50% deposit holds your date, and the other 50% is paid on the day of the trip.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Cash, bank transfer, a payment link, or credit card. Card payments have a 13% charge.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the captain decides not to go out, or to come back early, because of the weather, a Coast Guard or Navy advisory, or unsafe conditions, you get a 100% refund with no penalty. If you prefer, we can move your trip to another date instead.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel more than 30 days before your trip, you get a full refund. If you cancel with 30 days or less to go, the deposit isn't refundable. If the captain cancels for weather or safety, you always get a 100% refund.

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes. Costa Rica requires a sport fishing license to fish from a boat. It isn't included in the price: it costs US$17 per person, and you can buy it online or on the day of the trip. Kids who fish need one too; guests who only come along don't. Get your license (INCOPESCA) ↗

How do we get to the marina from Jacó?

Transportation isn't included. Most of our anglers come straight from their hotel to the boat; Los Sueños Marina is about 15 minutes north of Jacó.

Is the boat licensed and insured?

Yes. All our permits are up to date: a fishing license from INCOPESCA, a seaworthiness certificate from the MOPT and civil liability insurance with the INS. On board we carry life jackets and a life raft.
